Qarnevale Quartier: the magic of Venice in Doha for Fifa World Cup 2022

Valerio Festi and Monica Maimone’s latest creation for Festi Group is a show designed and produced for the thousands of visitors who are going to Doha for the Fifa World Cup.

The show will be staged from November 25 to December 4, in the evocative setting of Qanat Quartier on The Pearl Island. It will be a tribute to the city of Venice, from which the architecture of the precinct is inspired, with its canals and colorful houses.

This particular setting gave the creators the inspiration for a grand parade on water with magnificent self-propelled sets, dancers and acrobats. The idea of the show is to create a link between the Venice Carnival and the game of football.

The parade consists of as many as 22 stage machines mounted on as many catamarans hosting the show: ladies in seventeenth-century dresses, traditional characters from the Venice Carnival and also a large technological globe illuminated by laser lights, with the 32 nations of the World Cup: THE WORLD IS HERE

Along the way the public will be surprised by many special effects: from a huge batch of soccer balls released into the sky to a huge moon pulling a typical pearl fishers boat, one of the symbols of Qatar.

Closing the parade there’s a large stage on which two international freestyle soccer champions perform their acrobatic dribbling as a tribute to the world’s most beloved sport.

We look forward to seeing you all to celebrate together the exciting and joyful atmosphere that pervades Doha these days.

Don’t miss it!
